Frequently Asked Questions

Sydney hair extensions proudly uses Great Lengths 100% remy human hair.  Remy means the hair is collected with the cuticle layer facing the same direction from root to tip just as they do in your natural hair. Each and every strand is handcrafted in Italy and 100% Ethical & Traceable.

The Great Lengths extensions have a patented protein polymer bond which ensures a quick and simple application using a heated applicator tong. The temperature is similar to the lowest setting on a standard curling iron and is used to soften the Great Lengths bond so it can be moulded to your natural hair.

The result is undetectable attachments that are brushable, durable and most importantly, non-damaging to your natural strands.

Our hair extensions are virtually invisible. The bonds are set close to the head and never at the hair part or the hairline. Because the extensions are set in rows, in the natural direction of your own hair, they are discreet and indistinguishable to your own.

Available in over ninety shades our extension specialist will recommend the closet match and may select a couple of different shades of extensions so that the additional hair doesn’t look uniform in colour, matching your own hair more naturally. Highlights and lowlights can also be added into your extensions if you want more depth and tone without dyeing your own hair.

You are still able to wear your hair up. The height of your ponytail will vary and depend on the placement of your hair extensions.

The number of extensions required depends on your desired outcome. For volume, we can use as little as 10 pieces, and for length, a full head is usually required (minimum 120 pieces). If your hair is thin you may be able to get away with less than a full head. It all varies from client to client. Our specialist will confirm with you during your consult.

Our extensions come in lengths of 30cm, 40cm, 50cm or 60cm.

Book an appointment with us for a consultation. We will recommend the number of pieces and length you require as well as the best colour match for your desired result.

We can then book you in a couple of days later to apply them, once the extensions have arrived from our supplier.

They take one minute per piece to apply, so a full head of 120 pieces will take approximately 2 hours.

We sell the extensions by the piece, with a minimum of 5 pieces. The cost is all inclusive of the consultation and application. Price depends on the length. For more information see our price list

With proper maintenance, your hair extensions will between 4 and 6 months. As your hair grows, the bond will naturally grow out with your hair.

Washing your hair:

To shampoo your hair, use sulphur free shampoo and tilt your hair back and cleanse from the top of the head downward. Condition your hair to detangle from mid lengths to ends. Dry your hair by wrapping it with a microfibre headwrap or a towel to remove moisture. Make sure to dry the base area thoroughly to avoid bond breakdown. If you are using a blow dryer, use medium to low heat and finish with a cool shot once the hair is completely dry.

Sleeping:

At bed time it is best to tie your hair back in a soft low ponytail, or into a plat to avoid tangling. You may also sleep on a satin pillowcase to allow your hair to move freely while you sleep.

Brushing:

It is recommended that you brush your hair once or twice a day using a ‘Great Lengths’ brush, which is specifically designed for these extensions. Separate your applied strands using your fingers and slowly brush close to the scalp. Use a wide tooth comb to gently remove tangles from mid-strands to ends. Do not use a comb near the scalp area and the bonds.

Swimming:

Prior to swimming, wet the hair with water to prevent chlorine and salt water sticking to your hair. Immediately after swimming, shampoo and condition your hair to avoid any build up. Activities that result in a constant damp environment, especially swimming in sea water and chlorine, may lessen the longevity of your hair extensions.

Styling:

Straightening irons, hot rollers and curling irons may be used on the hair extensions but you must keep them at least 3-4 cm away from the hair bonds.

Removal is easy, we use an alcohol-based gel on the bond with pliers to crunch the bond which then becomes like sand & we slide it out of the hair with no damage.

Cost is $100 per hr.
