See What We DoEven though it’s cool outside, no doubt in your office and at home, it’s toasty and warm. I don’t know about you, but I quite often find myself putting my hair up just as much as I do during summer, simply because it’s still pretty warm inside.
To help combat the heat waves, below you’ll find five different hairstyles you can wear that will not only have you looking beautiful, but will help to keep you cool too. Simply add a scarf or coat to keep your neck warm as you head outside!
1. The Side Braid
The side braid is a great option for keeping you looking cool, and creating a unique look. The tighter the braid, the more formal the look. If you’re looking for something a bit more informal, aim for a loose braid or fishtail braid and add some ribbon or hair accessories as well. A texturizing spray will also help with this look.
2. High Pony
With this look, you can create a sophisticated, formal look. Add a bit of height in the front by lightly back combing the front section of your hair. Straighten the hair before putting it up for an even sleeker look.
3. Braided Halo
Split your hair in two and braid. Bring the right braid to the top of your head and pin in place behind your left ear. Repeat on the other side for a beautiful halo effect. If you don’t have a lot of hair, create a bun at the back and use the front sections of your hair to create the halo braids.
4. Braided Updo
If you’ve got a formal event to attend, this updo looks great if you’ve got a long fringe and whsipy bits around your face. Simply braid the hair, you can use 2-4 braids, and then wrap into a loose bun. Pin the braids however you want them to sit. A good dose of hairspray will hold everything in place.
5. Top Knot
If you’ve got fine hair, a top knot is the perfect answer. Create this simply by pulling the hair to the top of your head and then create a knot out of it. You can make this messy or sleek, it’s up to you. Hold in place with a clear elastic and some bobby pins. If you have a fringe, flat iron it in place, either straight down or to the side will work.
There you have it, five quick and easy hairstyles to keep you cool, even when the weather outside is freezing cold!

See What We DoIf you’re in a rush, which is most of us ladies, most days, having a couple of different 5 minute hairstyles on hand will make life so much easier!
Below is my top 5 go-to quick hairstyles – especially during the week when I don’t have a lot of time to make it look fabulous!
This one is super easy if you have one of those donuts that you can wrap your hair around and through, or alternatively, if you’ve got an hold sock lying around, you can use that to wind the hair around. Full details plus 9 other hairstyles can be found at BeautyRiot!
This is probably one of my fave hairstyles. The messy side braid is easy to achieve! Just use some texturising spray or sea salt spray to give it a bit of texture and braid away! If you need a few more details plus 7 more 5 minute hairstyles, check out AllWomenStalk.com!
This hairstyle is perfect for any length of hair – provided it’s at least chin length or longer 🙂 Spray in a bit of hairspray, secure a small section of hair to your crown (a clear elastic works best) and pull hair gently out to create a pouf. Alternatively, you can tease the hair, but that takes time! Full details plus 9 more hairstyles can be found at DailyMakeover.com.
I love this one, it’s so simple, you can even do it in your (parked) car! Grap a section of hair from the top (you can grab half your hair or just a small section, up to you!) and split it in two. Tie a knot with the two sections and then secure in place with a cute hairclip or some very grippy bobby pins! Voila – done! Full details here plus 4 more super quick hairstyles at LatestHairstyles.com.
This works well if you are growing your fringe out and it’s driving you insane! You can do this any which way, just keep the the pin close to the front of your head to give you a bit of height! Get this hack plus 14 more at Brit.co.

See What We DoPonytail’s are one of the quickest go-to hairstyles for those of us with medium to long hair! I love a high ponytail for something special on date night, but I also love a low side pony for a casual look.
This 5 minute tutorial is for the latter – the low side ponytail!
Step 1 – Tie your hair into a pony tail. Pull it slightly the side and keep it low.
Step 2 – Grab a small section of hair from the beneath your pony tail.
Step 3 – Wrap this section of hair around your hair about 3-4 times, depending on how long your hair is.
Step 4 – If you have a Topsy Tail, use the smaller one and poke the pointy end through the middle of your pony tail.
Step 5 – Thread the end of the small section of hair through the loop on your Topsy Tail – the hair should be on top of the inside loop.
Step 6 – Pull the pointy end of the Topsy Tail and it will pull the section of hair through your pony tail – no bobby pins needed!
Step 7 – If you don’t have a Topsy Tail, you can use your index finger and thumb to pull the section through – but don’t tie your pony tail too tight otherwise you won’t get your hair through!
Step 8 – Finish off your hair with some hairspray and arrange your fringe however you want.
You’re all done! Nice and simple and super quick if you have a Topsy Tail!

See What We DoEvery year, we see hair colour trends come and go. Which is why you need one place to be able to turn to when you need some hair colour inspiration!
And who better to show you what colours are in than the beautiful celebrities that we all know and love?!
From Platinum to Rose Gold hues, you’ll find every colour under the sun is available. The trick for you is to figure out which one you want to rock.
I personally am loving the Rose Gold colour that Jessica Chastain sports – it’s beautiful. And don’t forget that ombre hair colours are still in right now – you can easily achieve this without actually colouring your own hair by using hair extensions! Contact me if you’d like to try this out!
Just remember, if you are planning to try out a completely new hair colour, make sure you see your local hairdresser to do this for you. Sometimes, when you’re making a drastic change to your hair colour base, it can cause a few issues, namely, the colour doesn’t come out right or even worse, your hair falls out. Don’t risk it, always check with your hairdresser BEFORE making any major changes!
Check out the slideshow for all the hair colour trends for 2014. Don’t forget to watch out for Jessica Chastain’s rose gold hues as well – and let me know if you agree with how amazing it looks!

See What We DoThis is a follow on from Bobby Pinning 101 – make sure you have got this covered first before following these tips!
To create a BASE, you need a couple of bobby pins to create an area where the hair is all in place.
You do that by adding another pin and intersecting at the end instead of the middle, so it’s creating a trail of hair that are in place. You can cover this trail with a braid or twists and do a criss cross to hold the braid/twists to the base you created.
Get a bobby pin and position it in a 45 degree angle in the hair and push through the hair (not on top of the hair).
If you don’t want to show bumps on your hair, just position the bobby pins where the smooth part is on the one top and the ridged side is the one facing the scalp. You can hide the bobby pins this way in any hairstyle you choose to do.
Tie your hair back in a ponytail. Take a section of your hair and wrap around your fingers like a roll and you’ll create a loop. Criss cross your bobby pins on the inner part of the loop that touches the scalp. Keep on criss crossing until the hair is all in place. Repeat – this is a great way to create some cute, soft curls and if you add some texture spray first, the curls will stay in longer. Leave for 1-2 hours!
If you’re working on a particular hairstyle and there are some loose ends that are not really holding up, you can still fix it with your bobby pins. Run your fingers through the hair and comb it and pin the back end where it meets the hair style with other bobby pins. You can hide it by applying the steps on how to hide your bobby pins above.
When you are pinning for thick hair, you just need more bobby pins and you can apply the idea of sectioning the hair and pinning as you go.
Unlike thin hair wherein you can just pin in certain areas and it will hold up, pinning thick hair may need more support, that’s why we need to pin the hair in sections for more support and a secure hairstyle.
Take the fly away, put it through your bobby pin and push it through the bun or braid and the fly away and the bobby pin is gone!

See What We DoThis is a trial and error process, you need to choose what works for you. Some are flimsy and very thin, which may work for thin hair but not for thick hair. So you really need to look for the right one for you.
Is your hair the right texture for bobby pinning? If your hair is silky soft and smooth, the bobby pins may not cling on to your hair.
What you can do though is use dry shampoo or hairspray to make the texture of your hair more coarse for the bobby pin to cling to. If you don’t like product in your hair, another trick is to hold a handful of pins and spray them with dry shampoo. That way the product is on the bobby pin and not directly on your hair.
Teasing your hair is also another trick for a good hold using your bobby pins.
The perfect amount of hair depends on the thickness of your hair. Proper hair sectioning depends on the persons hair type. If it’s too small or too thick, the bobby pins may not be able to do their job.
If you have thick hair, you probably need small sections; that will be perfect for the bobby pins to hold on to. On the other hand, if you have thin hair then you may need medium to large sections of hair that the bobby pins can hold in place.
Interlocking your bobby pins (Criss Crossing) can provide more hold for your hair.
By doing this trick, you can move your hair away from the face and have it pinned at the back.
You can do this by interlocking two bobby pins and creating an “X” – use two bobby pins and clip it in the same area but on opposite ends, interlocking in the middle and creating an “X”. One goes in one way, the other comes in from the other side, upside down.
When you don’t want anyone to see the pins criss crossing over another, you can do that by hiding it under a braid or twists.
Instead of pushing it over the hair, you push the bobby pins under the hair. Criss cross, creating an “X” and it will hold the braid or twists but you can’t see the bobby pins.
Two bobby pins will not work if you’re doing a hairstyle that will use a lot of hair. If you’re doing an up-do or a bun, you’ll need more criss crossing sections that will hold the bun in place.
You may do it where the pins are visible, but for a more clean look – you may choose to hide the criss crossed bobby pins. If you feel that the areas where the bobby pins are still loose, you can add more pins to intersect with your “X” sections to keep a firm hold.
